Singapore Web Hosting Services Comparison

When thinking of marketing your business, one of the first things that comes to mind is having your own website. When starting your own site, it is important to choose the right web hosting service provider. The web hosting service that you choose will determine the type of speed your website gets, the data storage, the type of support you will receive, just to name a few. Having a good service will make your experience developing your website that much easier. For this article, we will be comparing 5 different web hosting service providers commonly used in Singapore. Keep in mind that this list is not exhaustive, but it does provide valuable information on these services which are some of the leading ones in the market today.

If you did a google search on web hosting services in Singapore, you will probably find many other ones like SingHost. I would urge that you do a comparison on the plans and research on the size and location of their servers, because if they are small, your speed will be drastically affected. The ones we have selected are some of the largest in the world, with servers in several countries. Therefore, it stands that they would have good speeds and services.

The ones we will be reviewing are A2 Hosting, WPEngine, SiteGround, BlueHost, and iPage.

A2 Hosting

A2 Hosting is a web hosting company founded in 2003 at Ann Arbor, Michigan. They cater to clients on several platforms such as Joomla, WordPress, Drupal and more. They offer a variety of plans which we will show below for your convenience. Alternatively, you can visit our review article here.

Not all web hosting companies can provide services to different platforms. This is their advantage over the others. Compared to many others, their hosting plans are relatively inexpensive. On top of that, they offer a full refund at anytime. A2 Hosting has a 24/7 support that can help you out if you feel you need help. They are reputed to have some of the fastest servers. You can select the type of server too. The fastest one is their Turbo Server which they say is 20 times faster than the average one. You can choose the data center for you. Their data centers are in Michigan, Arizona, Europe and Singapore.

WPEngine

WPEngine is a web hosting service dedicated to WordPress only, which can be a good or bad thing. WordPress is not suited for everybody due to the relatively complex nature of its design. It is highly customisable though and has a community that contributes useful plugins that really help in the design of your site.

They have three main plans, which are featured below. If you wish to dive into deeper detail on what each plan offers, you can visit our review article here.

  • Startup – – basic package – – Starting at $35 USD/month
    – 1 install, 25k visits/month, 10GB local storage, 50GB Bandwidth, Free SSL Certificates

  • Growth – – small business- – Starting at $115 USD/month
    – Up to 10 installs, 100K visits/month, 20GB local storage, 200GB Bandwidth, Free SSL Certificates

  • Scale – – accelerate growth- – Starting at $290 USD/month
    – Up to 25 installs, 400K visits/month, 30GB local storage, 400GB Bandwidth, Free SSL Certificates

The immediate thing that pops into your mind is the eye popping price. Comparing these 5 service providers, WPEngine is by far the most costly one. Their cheapest plan for personal blogs and low-traffic sites is $35 USD a month! Remember that the location of the server will help a lot with regards to the loading of your site. WP Engine does not have a server for Singapore based WordPress clients. In Asia, the data centers available are in Taiwan and Tokyo only. They do have a 60 day money-back guarantee, so you can get a full refund should you think their services with regards to WordPress is not meeting your expectation that comes with the high price.

SiteGround

SiteGround was founded in 2004 and they are officially endorsed by WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. They have 3 plans in regards to shared hosting, which is the cheapest ones available. Here is a table showing the prices and basic information. For a more detailed review, you can head to our article.

On the Siteground site, they have extremely favourable reviews. Based on 1169 community reviews as of the time of writing, they are rated an unbelievable 4.99/5.00. They also have very affordable prices for their plans and have a 30-day money back guarantee. Their Data Centers are conveniently located globally in three continents: United States, Italy, United Kingdom, Amsterdam and Singapore. BlueHost

BlueHost is one of the most popular web hosting service providers in the world. According to them, 2 million websites are being powered by them. They also have many of the top bloggers in the world recommending them. Chances are, if there’s a blogger you follow, they would be recommending you BlueHost to start your own website. They are WordPress recommended.

BlueHost has different plans for their hosting plans. The plans below are for their shared hosting service and what comes with the package. For more detail, here’s a link to our review.

  • Basic — $2.95/mo

– Limited to 1 website

-50 GB of website space, Unmetered bandwidth

-1 included domain, 5 parked domains

-100 MB in email storage

  • Prime – – $5.95/mo

– Unlimited Websites, Unmetered Website Space

– Unmetered Bandwidth, Standard Performance

– 1 included Domain, Unlimited Parked Domains

– Unlimited for the following: sub domains, email accounts, email storage

– $200 Marketing Offers, 1 Spam Experts, 1 Domain Privacy, SiteBackup Pro

  • Go Pro – – $13.95/mo

They have a user-friendly interface and inexpensive prices. What’s not to love? They also have a strong uptime too. However, the cheapest plan that BlueHost offers requires you to sign up with them for 36 months, which is quite long of a commitment. A year contract would cost you significantly higher, as you would triple the rate of the cheapest plan to renew the one-year contract.

iPage

iPage was founded in 1998 and was acquired by the Endurance International Group in 2010. They are currently handling over a million websites. What is most interesting about them is that they offer a one-size-fits-all plan. Their plan is $1.99/month. Here is a summary of their plan.

  • Unlimited disk space
  • Unlimited domain names allowed
  • Free domain for 1 year ($14.99 value)
  • customizable email address with your domain
  • 30-day money back guarantee
  • 24/7 phone and chat support

For entrepreneurs, you can get a free online store, free PayPal integration, Easy 1-click installer and AgoraCart shopping cart. Other features include an enhanced security suite ($100 value), vDeck control panel, Website Builder and more.

All this for $1.99 a month? Sounds unbelievable, does it? The services they offer is incredible for the price as well. Furthermore, they offer a one-year contract. However, there is a catch. After your contract ends, the renewal fee will not be $1.99/month again. Instead, it’s $8.99 per month this time.

Verdict

After extensive research and comparison, the web hosting service we recommend is SiteGround for an entrepreneur starting out in Singapore.

Along with A2Host,They are the only one with a server located in Singapore which makes the uptime a lot faster. SiteGround has a cheaper plan, and they have tons of positive community reviews which makes them seem more trustworthy. We here at Incorporate.sg use SiteGround as our web hosting solution, and we feel that their response to any service enquiry is very prompt and helpful. BlueHost has a long contract term and expensive renewal, and so does iPage. WPEngine is out of the question, being the most expensive of the bunch by far.

Therefore, SiteGround is InCorporate.sg’s preferred choice for web hosting to start. However, as your website gets more and more traffic and needs to upgrade, we recommend you take a look at A2Host’s more higher-end plans and compare them to see which suits your need more. A2Host’s Turbo Plan guarantees unlimited websites, data storage, data transfer and their 20x faster Turbo service. It’s worth considering if you are looking to expand.
